The Stadium Business Awards recognise the achievements of the people and venues that make up the global stadium industry.
The 2011 awards winners will be announced at a glittering prize-giving ceremony at the world-famous Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona on 15 June 2011.
“We were delighted to launch the Stadium Business Awards in association with Guinness in Dublin. For 2011 we will enhance the Awards’ prestige in partnership with football powerhouse FC Barcelona,” says Ian Nuttall, founder of the Stadium Business Summit. “We now encourage the global sports sector to tell us who deserves to be recognised for their leadership, achievements and vision in the stadium industry.”
The inaugural awards ceremony took place during the Stadium Business Summit 2010 at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, in front of an audience of over 150 stadium industry professionals from around the globe.
Winners of the Stadium Business Awards 2010 included Cornellà-El Prat Stadium (the new home of RFC Espanyol football club in Barcelona) for Venue of the Year; Wimbledon Centre Court’s retractable roof won Innovation of the Year; Dublin’s Croke Park stadium management team picked up awards for both Sustainability and Safety, while Wembley’s ongoing pitch troubles won the Backlash Award.
“Created last year to recognise the leading venues and the people behind them, the awards received a remarkable 1,000 nominations. We aim to better that for 2011”, comments Ian Nuttall. “The impressive calibre of entries testified to the incredibly high standards being attained right across the industry.”
“The judging panel was particularly impressed with the healthy spirit of innovation and professionalism which is generating new and exciting venues and events around the world,” added 2010 judging panel member Michael Bolingbroke, COO, Manchester United FC.
The Stadium Business Awards 2011 ceremony at Camp Nou on 15 June 2011 will be attended exclusively by delegates of the Stadium Business Summit, the judging panel, key stadium executives and the Stadium Business Awards’ commercial partners – along with an invited audience of all shortlisted nominees.
Nominations for Stadium Business Awards 2011 open in January.
